Bajra Sandi Monument to Bali Independence

Welllllll....... after writing late into the night and the continuation of yesterday’s events this morning about our visit to Bajra Sandi, plumbing and hardware store, flower shop, more on traffic, and other such observations  - I inadvertently deleted hours of blogging before posting........😳😤,  SERENITY NOW! ☺️   Another teaching moment and lesson on patience.....

It’s gone - so I will just post pictures and videos of above mentioned events and you can use your imagination to fill in the blanks.  Maybe if I get patient again, I will add a view captions 🤷‍♂️   The pictures below are not in any order, haven’t learned how yet, so good luck......you can expand and zoom in if you like, fairly good resolution and can read signs on dioramas.

These pics are of historical dioramas in Bajra Sandi rotunda from early Java Man to modern Independance from the Dutch.

Possible plumbing solution subsequently nixed

BRIEF VIDEO of grounds

More diorama....

Nyoman driving us about in rather rickety Bemo - no seatbelts (required here 🤷‍♂️) or air conditioning

Door hinge issue

Existing water and pump issue, soon to be solved 🤔?

Rotunda spiral staircase high into tower - no thanks....

Bemo slumming....

Interesting fact pointed out by David - the entrance opening with two upright structures represent the opening of the hands that were pressed together palm to palm, fingers pointing up as a symbol with multiple meanings in Hindu, Buddhism, Taoism and other Asian religions but generally a sign of greeting, reverence, prayer, honor, etc.   It’s architectural application both large and small, simple or ornate, appears to be a welcoming and blessing to those who enter.

Balinese weapons of war - some match against Dutch rifles and canon!

Hardware store visit but recounted story lost.......

Nyoman, our trusty Bemo driver

Traffic - did I mention that before.....
🙄
